Baptism Sunday - August 26 We will be having a baptism next Sunday, August 26! Anyone who has accepted Christ but has not experienced a “believers” baptism should talk to Pastor Ty, Russ Leaphart, or Russ Jones. WHAT IS IT? Baptists call Holy Baptism an Ordinance (rite). It is an act … and an outward sign (by immersion in our pool)… of an inward grace (or blessing) WHY BAPTISM? Our Lord commanded it (Matt 28:19). He modeled it (Matt 3:13f). Our responsibility is to encourage others to commit to it. WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Baptism means commitment and dying unto our selfish desires and wanting to be #1 (Col 2:12). It means identifying oneself as a believer… and joining a church (the Body)…. and it means pleasing God. WHO IS TO BE BAPTIZED? All people who have sincerely received Christ as Savior and Lord, and who want to follow Jesus. Beyond that, no restrictions or conditions.
