First Baptist Church is a busy and growing Church.  Sharing information about the different programs is a challenge. Our Church newsletter, The Beacon, is an effective tool in that regard.

The Beacon is a bi-monthly publication that strives to keep members and friends current not only with what is affecting life at the local church, but also what is affecting the church in the world.  As much as it is a reflection of what’s going on at FBC, The Beacon is also intended to challenge its readers to spiritual growth.

A portion of The Beacon is devoted to sharing news about the congregation, such as the passing of Members, Births and Birthdays, Anniversaries, Baptisms, and Personal Milestones.  Often people from the Congregation share their own stories and insights.  There are also features from some of the Ministries at FBC, or reports from particular Committees. Beyond that, The Beacon strives to inspire. We publish Faith-Building and Spiritually Challenging articles that have to do with current cultural events and trends.

We have been blessed to receive letters of Thanks and Praise for the Beacon Ministry – or we hear stories of how the Beacon is passed along through families or mailed to friends across the country because people find it’s content impacting their life in a meaningful way.

The Beacon is produced and assembled In-House. We need Writers, Artists, Reporters, Photographers, Graphic Artists, Proofreaders, and Collators to make the Beacon happen.  The Editor-in-Chief is of course the Pastor. Renee Moreau has been the Managing Editor and Graphic Artist for the Beacon since 1999.

Please Note: The Beacon will be going on hiatus, possibly for the rest of the year, as the Moreaus will be temporarily moving out of their home, having it torn down, a new modular home built, then will be moving back in.
