Meet Pastor Ty Choate
I have served the Lord through His church for many years. My call to the ministry came later in my life. In May of 1998 I was asked to become a volunteer Youth Director. God put special people in my path to affirm this decision. Within three months after accepting, I knew God had called me not only to minister to teens, but also that He was calling me into full time ministry to families. I shared this with my Pastor, who encouraged me to share this with the church body. The Lord has used not only this personal calling out, but has used many wonderful Christians to confirm this calling on my life. The teen group grew from 3 to 60 in less than a year, and many of these former Youth are involved in ministry themselves.
The Holy Spirit has given me gifts of leadership, evangelism, and teaching. I have worked in most every phase of church work. I believe a strong Sunday School and Discipleship training are a vital part in growing a church. I see myself as a team player, and know how to assemble a group of workers. I am an encourager of the faith, and feel strongly about the importance of prayer and Bible study in a believer’s life. God should not be put in a box. We have an obligation to seek His Will and direction in all of our church plans and activities.
I was called to be Pastor of an older struggling neighborhood church six years ago. We have now become a vibrant church and are still growing. We have added 200+ members, and 100+ are new believers. We have participated on mission trips to Thailand, Brazil, Oklahoma, North Carolina, all parts of Ohio, and the Gulf coast. We have created a children’s worship area, a Youth house, remodeled and updated most of the church building, and have doubled our budget. We are very active in the neighborhood that God has planted us in. Many of our members can walk to church.
Early in my ministry I found myself doing a lot of consultation, but felt I needed more education. I recently earned my Doctor of Pastoral Counseling, and became a licensed clinical pastoral counselor by the NCCA. I attend many seminars, study, and strive at being the best I can be for His kingdom’s work. I supervise two associate pastors, counsel, visit, prepare Bible studies, write for the local paper, and enjoy doing revivals and retreats.
My wife, Janine, and I are very proud of our four children; Danielle, Angela, Tyrone Jr., and Hannah. They were all homeschooled with Hannah graduating this spring. My children are born again believers, who are leaders, and have personally been involved in evangelism. Danielle and David have been married for five years, and are very active in their church’s ministry. Angela recently moved to Columbus, Ohio where she manages a car rental office, and is involved in her church’s Young adult ministry. Tyrone Jr. is finishing his second year at Temple Baptist College, and is feeling a call to Youth ministry. Hannah is a child watch coordinator at the YMCA, and plans on attending College in the fall. Janine is a gifted teacher, children’s minister, and has the gift of hospitality. We are dedicated to serving God, worshiping Him, and being about His purposes.
Welcome
to First Baptist Church, Red Bank, Pastor Choate! God bless you and yours.
Sincerely
